Joe Hahn is the DJ and creative director of the globally renowned rock band Linkin Park. His innovative contributions to the band’s sound, incorporating scratching, sampling, and programming, were instrumental in defining their unique nu-metal sound which have been streamed nearly 26 billion times on Spotify.

Hahn became the first Korean American to receive a Grammy Award when Linkin Park won for Best Hard Rock Performance in 2002 for the song “Crawling” from their debut album Hybrid Theory released in 2000.

Linkin Park has achieved immense commercial success through 8 studio albums, selling over 100 million copies worldwide, with Hybrid Theory being certified Diamond by the RIAA and selling over 32 million worldwide. Their second album Meteora released in 2003 also achieved massive success, going 8x Platinum in the U.S. and selling 27 million worldwide.

Hybrid Theory included “In the End,” which is the band’s highest-charting single in the U.S., hitting #2 on the Billboard Hot 100, and the hits “One Step Closer” and “Papercut.”

Their unique style pushed genre boundaries most notably highlighted by their collaboration with rapper Jay-Z. Blending rap and rock with their fusion EP, Collision Course, featured the Grammy-winning mashup “Numb/Encore.” The hit was prominently featured in the opening sequence of the 2006 film Miami Vice.

Beyond his musical contributions, Hahn is also a highly accomplished visual artist and director. He has directed many of Linkin Park’s iconic music videos, including “Points of Authority,” “Breaking the Habit,” and “Bleed It Out.” “Numb,” also directed by Hahn, is the band’s most viewed music video on YouTube with 2.5 billion views. These videos showcased his distinctive visual style and played a crucial role in the band’s overall aesthetic.

Linkin Park left a significant mark on the Transformers film series, contributing the first three theme songs, brought to life through music videos directed by Hahn. First with “What I've Done” from the first Transformers film in 2007, then with “New Divide” in the 2009 sequel, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, which was also intricately woven into the movie’s score, and “Iridescent” from 2011’s Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

Hahn has also directed music videos for Steve Aoki and Xzibit and contributed to the special effects for TV shows like The X-Files. He directed the 2014 feature film Mall and the 2006 short film The Seed.

Raised in Glendale, California, Hahn attended the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena for a year where he met Japanese American band member Mike Shinoda. Now 47, Hahn has built a legacy embodied in Linkin Park’s 50 million monthly Spotify listeners today. This massive reach contributes to an estimated $5 million in annual royalties per member, bringing Hahn’s net worth to an impressive $25 million.
