China inaugurated a 6-day festival Saturday in Katmandu to expose Nepalese to Chinese culture. On hand for the opening were Nepali Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, Chinese ambassador Qiu Guohong.
The Prime Minister welcomed Chinese investors and expressed the hope that the festival would promote an exchange of commerce and culture. This is the 4th China Festival held in Nepal since 2003.
Chinese singers, dancers, acrobats performed. Other attractions included a film festival and one of the more popular attractions — a swimsuit fashion show presented on the fesival’s sidelines Monday.
“Culture is like the rolling river, transcending time limit and national boundary, and helps promote the communication and development of different civilizations and nationalities as well as the progress and prosperity of different societies,” Qiu said.
“China and Nepal are neighbors linked by rivers and mountains, enjoying time-honored history of cultural exchange, which is growing more and more intensive as China-Nepal relations have been further enhanced and people-to-people exchange largely increased,” said Qiu.
