With a viral hit and growing social media presence, rapper Fijiana adds earth tones to the Bay Area music scene.
Pallaví a.k.a. Fijiana, is an independent hip-hop artist whose eclectic sound is fueling the Town’s latest slap, “Welcome to the Bay.”
With nods to her Indo-Fijian heritage and Bay Area culture, the song’s music video released at the end of August has over 83,000 views. Clips promoting the song on Instagram have been viewed over 6 million times.
A Richmond, CA native Fijiana’s NorCal energy can be felt in her 2019 single “Identity” with lyricism that boasts brown female empowerment and reappropriates an Oceanic slur. This is her most streamed song on Spotify with over 165,000 streams.
The release of her 2022 debut album Thirst helped garner attention from Vogue who spotlighted her in a piece on South Asian creatives. Fijiana’s growing social media presence has nearly 120k combined followers on Instagram and TikTok.
