Filipino American magician Anna DeGuzman has carved her own niche in the entertainment industry by trading traditional stage theatrics for a much more conversational performance. Much like the way street magicians brought the craft to the sidewalk, she has tailored her skills for a social media age where technical precision must be paired with a relatable personality to keep an audience’s attention.
DeGuzman recently showcased this while hosting the Complex series Interview With A Magician, with guest Billie Eilish. The segment containing intricate card tricks left the superstar visibly stunned and gained virality for its flirty and risqué tone.
On the series and in her performances, she often blends mentalism with cardistry, famously catching Offset off guard by revealing his secret celebrity crush during their sit-down.
These high-visibility moments have expanded her reach since she was platformed in 2023 as a finalist on Season 18 of America’s Got Talent. Finishing in 2nd place, DeGuzman was the first female magician to ever reach the finale of the competition.
She has been featured on Penn & Teller: Fool Us and was a recurring standout performer on the CW magic series, Masters of Illusion.
The 28-year-old taught herself magic tricks as a teenager while growing up in Bergenfield, New Jersey. DeGuzman’s showmanship has translated to the online audience where she has a social media following of over a million.
